Sri Lanka coach Graham Ford has rued the missed opportunity to review an lbw shout against Misbah-ul-Haq, soon after tea on day three, in Abu Dhabi.Suranga Lakmal had struck Misbah in front of middle stump, but above the knee roll, as Misbah batted on 76. But despite having their reviews replenished two overs prior, under the new rules, Sri Lanka chose not to challenge the decision. He had also been dropped on 69 by Mahela Jayawardene.”I was also happy with the performance of our young fast bowlers who stuck to the task and just kept working hard, but I thought they were a little bit unlucky,” Ford said. “There was a review that we should have asked for, but everybody on the field thought since it was a new ball, there would be enough bounce to take it over the stumps, in that particular delivery. Unfortunately we didn’t take that review.”Misbah and Younis Khan put on 218 runs together to effectively bat Sri Lanka out of the match, but Pakistan had been 83 for 3 when they came together at the crease. Younis was the more positive of the pair, hitting 136 from 198, and offering no solid chances before he was dismissed late in the day.”You have to give credit to the way Misbah and, particularly, Younis played. When they came in the match was pretty much in the balance with three wickets down – we had a chance of really getting in, had we taken quick wickets at that stage. They absorbed pressure fantastically well, and then they put us under pressure later on.”Our fast bowlers have bowled in Test cricket after long time, and as the day went on they had some good spells. Unfortunately their two batsmen played exceptionally well to neutralise our efforts.”Ford also said the pitch had become easier to bat on since Sri Lanka were bowled out for 204 on day one. Eight Sri Lanka wickets had been taken by Pakistan’s pace bowlers, after the hosts had bowled first on a green surface.”History tells you that generally in this ground days two and three are probably the best time to bat. This time around yesterday it was a pretty tough track to bat on. It had a bit of moisture and spongy bounce, which some of our batsmen found tough. Today it felt a lot more settled. I’m sure as the Test goes on there will be more in it for spin bowlers. That will be another challenge for the batsmen.”Pakistan’s quick men had bowled good lines on day one, but Sri Lanka’s batsmen had also contributed to the collapse by playing poor strokes. Ford said discussions on their performance had already been had.”If you score around 200 in the first innings, you’re going to have to fight pretty hard to get back on even terms. It was very disappointing and we have gone back and spoken about the batting. We lost the toss and the openers did a pretty good job in the first session, and we were hoping for a solid second session, but a couple of quick wickets fell and things didn’t go to plan.”Pakistan came out and really bent their backs and put the new batters under pressure. I think the little bit of extra bounce unsettled one or two of our players, and we played at balls that we shouldn’t have played at. Those are things that the batting coach has addressed with some of the players and we’ll have more of a chat tomorrow.”

أعرب روبيرتو فيرمينو لاعب فريق أهلي جدة، عن سعادته بعد فوز فريقه على الحزم بثلاثية، خلال المباراة التي جمعت بينهما مساء أمس الجمعة ضمن منافسات بطولة الدوري السعودي.

وسجل فيرمينو أهداف الأهلي السعودي الثلاثة خلال اللقاء أمام الحزم في الدقائق 7-10-72 من عمر المباراة.

وقال فيرمينو في تصريحات تلفزيونية عبر قناة “إس إس سي”: “بداية رائعة جدًا بالنسبة للفريق، والأهم أننا حصلنا على الثلاث نقاط”.

Ashley Giles, having confirmed his interest in the taking on the England team director’s role, is set to play a central part in deciding Kevin Pietersen’s international future next week. According to newspaper reports, a meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday, between Giles, Paul Downton and Alastair Cook, specifically to discuss Pietersen’s involvement with the England team.The meeting is not about selection, although it will directly influence the composition of England’s World Twenty20 squad, which will be announced on Thursday. Andy Flower, who remains a selector despite stepping down as team director, is not expected to attend. Suggestions that Flower thought Pietersen should play no further part with England clouded the end of his reign.Giles, the limited-overs coach who has previously referred to Pietersen as a “million-pound asset”, Downton, England’s new managing director, and the Test and ODI captain, Cook, will now try to determine a mutually agreed way forward.Such ongoing issues, as well as the humiliation of a 7-1 reverse in the limited-overs matches in Australia, have not disturbed Giles’ appetite to succeed Flower. He said after England suffered a T20 whitewash in Sydney that he would be applying for the post, which Flower vacated on Friday.Giles has been installed as the bookmakers’ favourite for a job that would reunite responsibility for England’s Test, ODI and T20 teams under one coach and was described by Giles Clarke, the ECB chairman, as a “very strong candidate”.”I’d be very interested in doing the job definitely,” Giles said. “I’m not going to deny that and I’m sure I’ll be applying for the post.”It’s one of the biggest jobs in cricket and I’d apply for it because I want to do it, as someone who was very proud to play for England and been proud to coach the one-day side. To do the whole job would be a fantastic opportunity but it’s hard work as well and we’ve got a lot of hard work to do before whoever is announced to get in shape for the world cup.”Giles, who played 54 Tests for England, said he had not been expecting Flower to step away and was immediately in touch with Downton.”I was a little surprised at the timing and of the announcement full stop,” Giles said. “Andy’s obviously, not had enough but wanted to call it a day and I guess it is time to move on. I spoke to Paul after the announcement about where I stand. I didn’t know the detail of Andy’s standing down at the time so I wanted to get clear on that.”Having served as England one-day coach since the beginning of 2013, Giles appeared well placed to add the Test side to his remit but his cause has not been helped by a weak showing in Australia, where both the ODI and T20 series were lost at the earliest possible stage.England will attempt to put their Australian nightmare behind them in the West Indies at the end of the month, before the World Twenty20 in Bangladesh, and Giles is well aware that results will feature prominently on his CV.”I think it’s important that I concentrate on what’s coming up in the next couple of months,” Giles said. “If I have to put an application in in the next couple of weeks then I’ll think about it and get it done but results will talk as well.”I’ve got a really big series in the West Indies and more importantly the World Cup in Bangladesh. Our record in the subcontinent for limited-overs cricket isn’t great, so it’s a good challenge. We’re pretty much right at base-level now. And we’ve got a lot of hard work to do and a lot of talking to do to decide which 15 guys we take to Bangladesh to give us the best chance.”Giles’s conversations with Downton will also concern the 15-man squad that England will select for the World T20. That squad, potentially plus an extra bowler, will travel to the West Indies for three ODIs and three T20s. James Whitaker, the new national selector, is expected to make his first announcement on Thursday, though Giles would not be drawn on Pietersen’s chances of being included.”We’ll have a selection meeting when we get back to England,” Giles said. “There’s more than one bloke to talk about. You don’t like guys living in fear but there’s always careers and jobs on the line, whether coaching or playing, we’ve all got to be better and there’ll be no substitute for hard work. That starts in the West Indies, guys can expect some early mornings and some late nights.”We’ll pick the squad this week and go from there. But picking those 15 names at the moment is going to be a tough task. I can’t say how many changes there will be but conditions in Bangladesh will obviously be very different and we’ll have to think about pace off the ball and spin options and think about our tactics full stop.”Although we’re playing three one-day games [in the Caribbean] it give us a good run in to Bangladesh. We need to do a lot of hard work and that will be good preparation.”

واستكمل: “عمر لعب دورًا مهمًا في التواصل بيني وبين الجهاز الفني للمنتخب، وتحدثوا مع وكيلي وأنهوا كل شيء بطريقة مجنونة”.

وأوضح: “بالفعل أصبحت أمثل منتخب مصر، وكنت أزور مصر كل صيف مع والدتي وأقضي الإجازة، لكن آخر مرة جئت كنت في الثانوية العامة”.

وأكد: “فريقي المفضل في مصر هو الأهلي، وكنت أرتدي قميص الأهلي وأنا في مصر”.

وأشار: “علاقتي بلاعبي منتخب مصر للسلة ممتازة ويساعدونني وسعداء بتواجدي، ومازلت أتعلم اللغة العربية ويعاونونني على ذلك، وأنا سعيد جدًا بهذا الأمر”.

واختتم: “كل يوم نشعر أن فرصنا تزيد في بطولة كأس العالم لكرة السلة، سنحاول الفوز بكل مباراة وجميعنا متحمسون”.

The first five Indians in the batting order in the Whangarei practice game will all be part of the first Test XI in Auckland. Of them, the first three fell after getting starts, and the next two made fifties before retiring. All five spent at least an hour each in the middle but the Indians would have wanted the top-order batsmen to have had a longer hit on the flat pitch before the side heads back to Auckland.M Vijay went in the second over of the second day, losing his off stump as he tried playing a pitched-up delivery from the crease. Shikhar Dhawan and Cheteshwar Pujara carried on without any trouble but Dhawan ran himself out, going for a third run after punching through extra cover.Pujara was quite solid in his first outing after arriving in New Zealand. He left well, pushed forward to defend confidently, and cut in his vigorous fashion whenever he got width. Having motored to 33, he missed an incoming delivery off the back foot to be trapped in front.Vijay played 56 deliveries, Dhawan 68 and Pujara 66. While none could reach the point where they had the luxury of retiring, whatever practice time they managed before the first Test was still better than falling early.Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane helped themselves to some more batting practice, making 59 and 60. Rohit had a few unconvincing slogs at the spinners, but none of the mis-hits was realistically a chance. Both batsmen were hardly bothered against an attack comprising fringe domestic players. After these two walked off within a few overs of each other, Ambati Rayudu, the reserve Test batsman, put in an unbeaten, two-hour stint that fetched him 49.Wriddhiman Saha did not last long but R Ashwin came in to play some outstanding strokes. He hooked successive sixes when he was bounced and pulled as convincingly. Ashwin cracked 46 off 51, and the match was called off soon after his dismissal.

أكد جود بيلينجهام لاعب وسط ريال مدريد، أنه أصبح لاعبًا أفضل بعشر مرات مقارنة بالموسم الماضي، وتحدث عن قدرة الميرنجي على الريمونتادا دائمًا، بعد قلب الطاولة على ألميريا في الدوري الإسباني.

وقاد بيلينجهام ريال مدريد للفوز بثلاثية لهدف في الجولة الثانية لليجا، وسجل هدفين وصنع هدفًا.

وقال بيلينجهام، في تصريحات نشرتها صحيفة “ماركا” الإسبانية، حول أكثر ما أحبه في المباراة أمام ألميريا: “العودة والقتال، من الصعب على العديد من الفرق أن تستقبل هدفًا مبكرًا، نحن واصلنا اللعب بشكل جيد، ولم تكن هناك وجوه مذعورة وفي النهاية كانت نتيجة مريحة”.

وأضاف: “أنا سعيد بالتسجيل ولكن من المهم أن ألعب بشكل جيد وأن أساهم، أعرف أنني سأفعل ذلك وأن زملائي في الفريق سيبحثون عني، الأمر لا يتعلق بالأهداف، إنه يتعلق بالفوز، يجب أن أعمل بجد”.

وتابع: “المستوى هنا مرتفع للغاية، أنا مثل الإسفنج أستوعب ما أتعلمه من زملائي في الفريق، لا يزال أمامنا مباريات كثيرة وعلي أن أستمر في المساهمة”.

وعن نجاح فريقه ريال مدريد في العودة دائمًا بالنتيجة وتحقيق الفوز، أشار: “لقد شاهدتها عدة مرات عندما كنت طفلاً على شاشة التلفزيون، أتذكر أنني كنت أقول لن يتمكنوا من ذلك وفي النهاية عادوا”.

وأتم: “الآن أنا هنا أعيشها، هناك هدوء، أنا لم أفكر أبدًا في أننا سنخسر، نظرت إلى وجوه زملائي في الفريق ولم تكن هناك وجوه مذعورة”.
