Celtic midfielder Ewan Henderson is seemingly set to leave Parkhead for Hibernian during the January transfer window.

The lowdown

Celtic have told Henderson he’s free to go this month, rather than waiting until the summer when his £3,300-per-week contract expires.

Should he join Hibernian, he would link up not only with former Celtic coach Shaun Maloney, but also with his brother Liam.

21-year-old Henderson has made 11 appearances in total for Celtic but only one of those has come this season, and that was in the Europa League dead-rubber against Real Betis.

Patrick McPartlin of the Edinburgh Evening News reports that ‘progress [is] being made’ in Hibs’ pursuit of Henderson.

Clubs in Italy are also said to be interested, but Hibs are leading the race and are hopeful of wrapping up the move in advance of the Scottish Premiership’s resumption on 17 January.

The verdict

Ange Postecoglou doesn’t look to have much use for Henderson. Prior to the winter break, he included him in his matchday squad on just six occasions.

It’s hard to argue he’s a valued member of the roster, and so it’s probably best for both parties that he moves on.

Henderson did grab his opportunity when it was presented to him, netting what Pat Bonner called an ‘incredible’ goal against Betis, but it’s clearly made little difference to his situation in Glasgow, and the move feels like a win win all-round.

Shoaib Malik, widely regarded as the target of Yousuf’s remarks, hit back by questioning Yousuf’s leadership abilities on Friday, and had demanded to be allowed to meet the inquiry committee.The six-man committee, headed by Wasim Bari, the board COO, questioned both Yousuf and Malik on Saturday, besides Intikhab, assistant coach Aaqib Javed and opener Salman Butt. It had began work on Friday by interviewing Afridi and the team manager Abdur Raqueeb.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is eyeing a transfer swoop for Real Madrid star Toni Kroos…

What’s the story?

According to Spanish publication El Nacional, Klopp would be delighted to bring his German compatriot to the Premier League and Anfield.

The report adds that Liverpool’s interest in the midfielder is very much serious, and that he would be promised a leading role at the Merseyside club along with a bumper three-year deal.

World Cup and Champions League winner

Kroos has been one of this generation’s most successful players, with a host of trophies both at club and international level.

The midfielder has won the World Cup with Germany back in 2014, as well as winning four Champions League titles with both Real Madrid and Bayern Munich respectively.

Kroos, who has previously been described by Klopp as “one of the biggest talents in German football for a long, long, long time”, could add a touch of class and composure to the Reds’ midfield.

In fact, despite now being 32, the Madrid star continues to be one of his side’s best performing players – as per Whoscored, his average match rating of 7.25 is good enough to rank him fifth in the entire Los Blancos squad, while unsurprisingly he boasts the best passing accuracy and most passes of any Madrid player who’s started more than one game.

It’s no surprise then that he has been widely praised for his ability in recent years, not least from those who have seen him first-hand in training and in games.

Real Madrid teammate, Vinicius Jr, said of the German: “Toni is unbelievable, he’s a wonderful player. Every time he steps onto the pitch, he shows his immense class, nobody plays like him.”

The £22.5m-rated star could add that extra bit of elite experience and quality to this Liverpool side. Reds fans will surely be excited with a swoop for someone of Kroos’ class.

Sachin Tendulkar shored up Mumbai Indians yet again with his fifth half-century of the IPL that all but guaranteed them a place in the semi-final and took him to the top of the run-charts in the tournament. He overcame Rajasthan Royals’ strong start by building two partnerships: the first with JP Duminy to lead Mumbai’s recovery after the loss of three early wickets, and the second with Kieron Pollard to accelerate at the end. That effort was backed up by a clinical performance from Mumbai’s bowlers, which left Rajasthan battling in a mid-table scrap at fourth place, and inflicted on them their first defeat in Jaipur.While their chase seemed doomed to fail after four wickets in the first seven overs, Rajasthan will look back at two phases where Mumbai could have been restricted. They grabbed three wickets in the Powerplay, but failed to keep up the pressure during a rebuilding endeavour by Tendulkar and Duminy. And they performed poorly in the field, with Adam Voges missing an easy opportunity to run out Pollard off his first ball, and Aditya Dole dropping a sitter off Tendulkar when on 45. The lapses cost Rajasthan dearly, as the pair helped plunder 68 off the last five overs to lift Mumbai to a score that proved out of Rajasthan’s reach.Tendulkar faced just 12 deliveries in Mumbai’s Powerplay, but adapted superbly, restraining himself while ensuring a healthy rate after the early setbacks, and taking off with ease at the death against Rajasthan’s seamers. With a mid-on inside the circle in the penultimate over, Watson bowled short and was hammered over that fielder for two consecutive fours. When Siddharth Trivedi came on next, Tendulkar targeted the wide long-on region for two successive sixes and finished off with 20 in the final over.The only moment of promise in Rajasthan’s chase was when Michael Lumb struck Dhawal Kulkarni for two fours in the second over, before slashing one straight to point. Zaheer Khan was the best of the Mumbai bowlers, nipping the ball away from the batsmen and clocking in excess of 140 kph, and earned his reward when opener Naman Ojha edged to slip.While Rajasthan were generous in the field, Mumbai didn’t waste their chances and Shane Watson and Faiz Fazal were run out after responding late to calls from their partners. “أثيرت في الآونة الأخيرة بعض الموضوعات ذات الجدل الواسع على مواقع التواصل الاجتماعي، زُج فيها باسم الاتحاد المصري للكرة الطائرة عن عدم دراية كاملة بأبعاد الموضوعات والقضايا ودور الاتحاد فيها، وكان مجلس إدارة الاتحاد قد نأى بنفسه – منذ انتخابه – عن الدخول في جدال على مواقع التواصل الاجتماعي حتى يتفرغ للعمل من أجل النهوض بالكرة الطائرة المصرية وإعادتها إلى مواقع الريادة وهو ما يتحقق رويدا رويدا.

واقعة سرقة عقود لاعبي النادي الأهلي محمد عادل وأحمد سعيد، فإن الاتحاد منذ اللحظة الأولى أدار الموضوع بكل حيادية وشفافية وقام على الفور بإخطار المباحث الجنائية بالمحضر رقم 3278/2022 إداري مدينة نصر ثان، والمحضر رقم 4156/2022 جنح مدينة نصر ثان، التي قامت بدورها بإلقاء القبض على الفاعل وإحالته للنيابة العامة، وجاري اتخاذ إجراءات القبض على المحرض (إداري بأحد الأندية)، والموضوع برمته الآن أمام تصرف النيابة العامة الموقرة ولا مجال للحديث عن أي شيء في هذا الأمر احتراما لاختصاصات النيابة العامة الموقرة ودورها الوطني في إرساء قواعد الحق.

وعليه قام الاتحاد باتخاذ كافة الإجراءات الإدارية من أجل الحفاظ على حقوق النادي الأهلي وإثبات حق النادي في لاعبيه بمحاضر النيابة العامة واعتماد صور عقود اللاعبين واعتبارهما من لاعبي النادي الأهلي للموسم الحالي 2022-2023 .

وعليه فإن الاتحاد المصري للكرة الطائرة يهيب بالسادة الإعلاميين والسادة أسرة الكرة الطائرة مراجعة الاتحاد فيما يتعلق بالقضايا الخاصة بالاتحاد حفاظا على مصداقية الخبر وإرساء لمبدأ حق الرد”.
