He wasn’t the founder of that system, however. Rangnick has inspired a whole plethora of coaches, including the likes of Marcelo Bielsa and Pep Guardiola.

“Five or 10 years ago, you were not afraid of what the other team was doing while you had the ball. Now, most teams in most leagues have some sort of plan for how they can hurt you when they do not have possession,” the veteran coach once documented.

It was at Leipzig where this really became prominent, ensuring the team played with a high press and then signing players that were under the age of 23. Naby Keita and Timo Werner, for example, were both uncovered by the former Schalke head coach.

With six honours to his name as a manager, he certainly has what it takes to bring the good times back to Old Trafford.

On top of that, he could even bring a style of play to the club that rivals Klopp and his Liverpool charges.

This would certainly be an eye-catching appointment if a deal can be done.

A day after the men secured a tense draw in Cardiff to stay level in the Ashes, England women retained their Ashes by drawing the one-off Test against Australia in Worcester. Their task was comparatively easier, though, for they had to survive less than two sessions and it rained after tea at New Road.Australia began the final day on 128 for 1 in the second innings, with an overall lead of 169, and were in no danger of losing. However, in order to push for a win, they had to score briskly and give themselves enough time to bowl England out. In the end, however, they were dismissed for 231 in the second session.Opener Alex Blackwell had remained unbeaten on 59 at the end of the third day but was caught and bowled by Katherine Brunt – her only wicket in the second innings – for 68 on the fourth morning. The rest of the top order got starts but failed to carry on and Karen Rolton’s 31 was the second-highest score of the innings. England’s bowlers kept pegging away and Holly Colvin took three lower-order wickets to help restrict Australia.Chasing 273 to win, or needing to survive the rest of the day to draw the match, England were jolted by the loss of Caroline Atkins – lbw to Sarah Andrews – for a duck. However, a rain delay deprived Australia of valuable extra time and even though England stumbled to 39 for 3, Charlotte Edwards remained unbeaten on 53 to secure the draw.

Following their successful start to an extensive rebuilding job, Crystal Palace aren’t expected to spend big money in the upcoming January transfer window.

What’s the story?

That’s according to Sky Sports journalist Michel Bridge, who believes the Eagles’ chairman Steve Parish will be satisfied with the work he conducted over the summer.

The south London outfit are currently on a six-game unbeaten run and have masterminded famous victories over Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City to provide a new wave of hope and optimism following four years of pragmatism under Roy Hodgson.

However, with the likes of Joel Ward, James McArthur, Jordan Ayew, Christian Benteke and Cheikhou Kouyate all in their 30s and approaching the twilight zone of their careers, the squad overhaul is far from complete.

Further investment will be needed by Parish in due course, but that appears unlikely to come in the January window, with Palace fans being forced to wait until the summer to see any more fresh faces.

Gilto publicou em seu blog informações sobre salários e luvas do jogador, o que motivou uma notificação extrajudicial dos advogados do atleta no período em que ele esteve afastado. O cofista, em resposta, diz que estas não eram informações sigilosas, já que tomou como base textos antes publicadas na imprensa. The most notable decisions are a massive hike in prize money for the Ranji Trophy and the approval of an umpire’s academy.Winners of the Ranji Trophy will now get Rs 2 crore (previously Rs 60 lakhs), the runners-up Rs 1 crore (previously Rs 30 lakhs) and the semi-finalists Rs 50 lakhs. To put things in context, the winners in 2005 received all of Rs 7 lakh. This amount also places the Ranji Trophy above the board’s corporate tournament, scheduled to be held in the coming season, whose winners will get Rs 1 crore.While no details were available on the decision to set up an umpires’ academy, it could, if properly implemented, go some way in improve the standard of umpiring in domestic cricket.The other decisions taken at the meeting are: Former ICL players who have been granted amnesty, are eligible to play the IPL in the next season (2010), with a cap on the payment being a maximum of Rs 20 lakhs. Umpires Amiesh Saheba and Shavir Tarapore have been nominated to the ICC international panel. The Indian board will also give Rs 25 crores over the next two years to the All-India Football Federation for the development of football in the country. Specialised coaching centres dealing with batting in Mumbai, with fast bowling in Mohali, and with spinners and wicketkeepers in Chennai will be started in September 2009. Specialist coaches will be appointed on an annual retainership at each of the centres. Umpires in domestic matches (excluding IPL) will be paid Rs 7500 per match day, while umpire coaches and match referees will be paid Rs 10,000 per day. The team and support staff that won the Emerging Players tournament in Australia will be paid a bonus of Rs 1 lakh each. The National Cricket Academy’s coaching manual was released by BCCI president Shashank Manohar.

South Africa’s captain, Graeme Smith, is one of a group of leading cricketers who will be using the forthcoming Champions Trophy to promote the ICC’s THINK WISE campaign, a new global AIDS awareness initiative designed to provide young people with information about how to protect themselves from HIV.Around 10 million people living with HIV are from major cricketing countries, which accounts for more than a quarter of all the people across the world who are HIV-positive. South Africa is the country most affected with some 5.7 million people living with the disease. According to the Human Sciences Research Council of South Africa nearly 9% of young people aged 15-24 are living with HIV in the country.”AIDS is a massive issue in South Africa and India, two of the biggest cricket countries in the world, and as a young South African who has been a role model since a young age, I hope to have an impact on youngsters coming through,” Smith told Cricinfo. “This really is an opportunity for me as a national captain to use the platform to educate and promote awareness. The ICC campaigns offer a platform to encourage South Africans to learn about the disease.”Smith has been appointed as one of five champions of the campaign, alongside Sri Lanka’s captain, Kumar Sangakkara; India’s opening batsman, Virender Sehwag; the Australia fast bowler Nathan Bracken, and the England women’s World Cup winner, Isa Guha.
