Leeds United appear to be closing in on their fourth senior signing of the summer transfer window, according to emerging reports.

The Daily Mail claim that the Yorkshire giants have opened talks with Eredivisie side Utrecht over a deal to sign winger Gyrano Kerk before the deadline on October 5th.

It’s claimed that Leeds have been working on several deals in recent days, including a move for former target Dan James, who could leave Manchester United should they find cover in his position.

The Whites are leading the race to sign the 24-year-old as their £8m offer is better than what Utrecht have received from Cagliari and Verona.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side defeated Sheffield United on Sunday afternoon with summer arrivals Robin Koch and Rodrigo both featuring whilst latest signing Diego Llorente.

Kerk has been a rather prolific sensation for the Dutch side, last season he banged in ten goals and also provided seven assists, averaging three dribbles, 2.1 shots and 1.4 key passes per game, via WhoScored.

And since the 2016/17 season, he’s contributed to at least eight goals each campaign, seemingly increasing as each year goes on.

SciSports claim that the 5 foot 9 wide man is an inside-forward who “possesses the technical and dribbling skills and good acceleration to beat a defender in one-on-one duels.”

Whilst Voetbal International describe him as a “speed demon” who many defenders struggle to keep up without on the flanks.

“Kerk is not the most polished attacker in the Eredivisie. No, Kerk is a speed demon who always creates danger in the final third. When Kerk is on the moped, there is hardly any defender that can keep up with him. The big difference with last season is that he has become a bit sharper, more focused, so don’t be surprised if Utrecht actually hit the jackpot for Kerk ahead of next season.”

Perhaps it can be argued that further depth is needed in this position as Bielsa only has Jack Harrison, Helder Costa and Ian Poveda as viable options.

If they can’t secure James from the Red Devils, then taking a punt on the Dutchman could be wise, especially at just £8m. Andrea Radrizzani shouldn’t hesitate as it’s potentially low-risk, high-reward.

Tottenham Hotspur enjoyed one hell of a transfer window.

However, could Daniel Levy already be rueing the decision to not sign one mooted summer target?

Over the weekend, Football Insider revealed that former Brentford striker Ollie Watkins held “extensive” talks with the north London outfit and was “desperate” to make the move to the club prior to signing for Aston Villa for £28m.

They also claim that Levy would not meet the Bees’ asking price and tried to keep driving down the deal.

And despite costing a whopping £28m, it appears that the Midlanders have truly won from this saga.

The 24-year-old has enjoyed a phenomenal start to life in the Premier League, culminating in a recent hat-trick against defending champions, Liverpool.

Whilst they are the only three goals he’s scored in Villa’s opening three matches, he’s still contributed massively to their encouraging start – per WhoScored, Watkins is averaging 3.3 shots, 1.7 key passes and one shot per game, so he’s clearly doing more than just finding the back of the net.

His form has already drawn high praise indeed. Alan Shearer told Match of the Day: “It wasn’t just his goals that impressed me – it was his hold-up play, the strength. He’s too strong for you. Bringing people into the game. Running in behind he was a constant nuisance, they just couldn’t live with him. We said he should have scored more – he perhaps should have.”

Whilst Exeter City boss Matty Taylor believes he’s on the cusp of an international call-up. He said: “If you perform well then the next level is international football, and to see him in an England shirt would top the lot – it would even top the hat-trick against Liverpool.”

Watkins is managing more shots at goal each game than Heung-min Son (2.5), so you could only imagine the threat Spurs would have if it was a front three involving the Villa man, the South Korean and Harry Kane.

Levy may well have made a mistake with this one.

Juvenal faleceu na manhã desta quarta e seu corpo chegou ao estádio por volta das 15h. Luis Fabiano compareceu às 17h40. Em 2011, então presidente do São Paulo, foi o direto responsável pelo retorno do atacante ao clube, depois de boa passagem pelo Sevilha, da Espanha. Findada mês passado, foi a maior passagem do jogador pelo Tricolor.

-Tenho um carinho muito grande por ele, gratidão, não podia deixar de estar aqui, dando o adeus.É uma despedida, só que dessa vez não vamos poder mais conviver junto, infelizmente fica as lembranças, risadas, a outra despedida acho que em algum momento retornarei – completou o jogador, falando sobre sua saída do São Paulo.

No fim de novembro, Luis Fabiano encerrou sua terceira passagem pelo Tricolor e, na ocasião, ganhou um áudio de Juvenal Juvêncio em sua homenagem. Não houve tempo para agradecê-lo como gostaria.

Earlier this week, we told you about Roy Hodgson’s interest in Royals skipper Liam Moore. Now, it turns out the Eagles have turned their attention to his teammate as well.

According to The Reading Chronicle, Palace face stiff competition from Premier League rivals West Ham for his signature.

It’s claimed that Hodgson’s side have a long-standing interest in the former England U21 international, as they have been keeping close tabs on the situation for some time.

Let’s face it, Palace have the oldest squad in the Premier League, which has become a bit of a problem in recent times. Don’t get me wrong, having an experienced defence isn’t always a bad thing, as Brazilian centre-back Thiago Silva has impressed for Chelsea, but there will come a point where they will have to start planning for the future.

To compound the problem even further, several Palace players are out of contract in the summer, including defenders such as Scott Dann, Gary Cahill, Martin Kelly and Mamadou Sakho, as well as academy graduate Tyrick Mitchell, who has made six appearances in the Premier League so far.

Palace fans will have to wait and see if Mitchell will decide to try his luck elsewhere instead, as Hodgson has backed the left-back to follow in the footsteps of Aaron Wan-Bissaka. Meanwhile, HLTCO regular Dan Cook believes “the vultures will begin to circle” as the uncertainty surrounding his future at Selhurst Park continues to build.

In fact, we’d even go so far as to say that the 22-year-old would be the perfect replacement for Mitchell.

Once hailed as an “outstanding” player by former Reading boss Mark Bowen, the £1.35m-rated ace has played seven games in the Championship this season, whilst he has made 2.9 tackles, 1.6 interceptions and 2.3 clearances per game, via WhoScored. By comparison, Mitchell has only managed fewer than one interception in the Premier League so far, as per WhoScored.

Whether Richards is a one season wonder or not, it’s surely worth the risk anyway, especially when you take into account the fact that he could be available for a cut-price deal as his contract is set to expire next year. Get it done Eagles, whilst you still can.

The Tyneside club’s reliance on trying to soak up the pressure before being clinical on any counter-attacks or set-pieces has earned them a couple of notable results, but there has been elements of good fortune to them as well – not least being the beneficiaries of a hugely contentious VAR call that saw them earn a point away at Tottenham.

Unless Bruce finds a way to help plug a leaky defence, and prevent Darlow from having to work double-time every game he steps on to the field, then Newcastle are heading for an unmitigated disaster.
