What a night Wednesday was for Tottenham! Indeed, it proved they really can compete with the best and showed why Christian Eriksen should stay at least one more season to try and make history for the club who made him what he is today.

Despite spending absolutely nothing during or since the summer, the Lilywhites held their own against big spenders City and are now playing the games that Eriksen will have thought he’d have to leave in order to play. The tie meant much more than just progression.

The Danish wizard – who the Daily Mail report the club could be under pressure to sell – has been key to landing his club where they are today, despite him not having the best of seasons by his incredibly high standards. He’d be mad to leave this summer, just when Spurs are on the cusp of making that finally push for the title.

Yes, he’s 27-years-old and there are certainly higher profile clubs that he could play for, but what’s one more year in a career that possibly has another five at the very top level. If Spurs win the Premier League next year, then he’s a hero. If they don’t, their fans can’t blame him for leaving.

Indeed, the loss to City on Saturday proved there’s still work to do on that front and, at in their new stadium, what better place to do it?

To go this summer just feels like it’d be an unfinished job. It felt that way at the start of this season, but now it’s clear there’s a real possibility that the club are able to finish that job in the next campaign or so, if they sign the right players and keep their top stars.

Eriksen should take whatever Daniel Levy offers and give it one more season to become a club legend. History is within his grasp, and he shouldn’t jump ship just as it nears its final destination.

أكد المدير الفني الإيطالي أندريا بيرلو، أن فريقه يوفنتوس قدم مباراة قوية في مواجهة سبيزيا، والتي فاز بها البيانكونيري على سبيزيا، ضمن الجولة السادسة من الكالتشيو.

وفاز يوفنتوس برباعية مقابل هدف، بعد أن تعادل خلال المباراتين الماضيتين أمام كوتروني وهيلاس فيرونا. “طالع تقرير المباراة”

وقال بيرلو في تصريحات لشبكة “سكاي” الإيطالية: “لقد لعبنا مباراة جيدة، صنعنا الكثير من الفرص، أردنا الفوز منذ الدقيقة الأولى، وساعدنا رونالدو”.

عاد النجم البرتغالي إلى الملاعب بعد أن غاب لأكثر من 20 يومًا بسبب فيروس كورونا، قبل أن تتحول نتيجته إلى سلبية ويعود أمام سبيزيا.

وأضاف بيرلو: “لقد غيرنا نظامنا قليلاً، كنا نعلم أن آرثر سيكون أكثر حرية في اللعب متأخراً قليلاً، وبالفعل قدم مباراة رائعة في هذا المكان”.

Facing a demoralized Brighton & Hove Albion, Christian Atsu was handed the perfect opportunity to win over Rafa Benitez.

The Spaniard decided to shuffle up his system, handing Atsu a place in attack to prove his worth in the squad without the injured Miguel Almiron.

However, what Newcastle received instead was a broken shell of a lost talent. Indeed, Atsu had the opportunity to win back a place in the lineup, but his utterly disappointing performance means he might not even make many appearances afterwards.

Brighton were sloppy in defence and showcased complete lack of pressure in allowing the Magpies to dominate proceedings. As a result, Atsu found himself in promising positions with no pressing. Yet, rather than creating chances for Salomon Rondon or in-form Ayoze Perez, he played like a passenger. His passes were predictable, he missed that creative spark, barely threatened them with his pace and never fazed Matt Ryan in goal.

The Ghanaian’s drought in attack continued and in 26 appearances now, 13 of which have been starts, he’s yet to score or assist a goal this season. Benitez has showcased surprising faith in his talents, but he’s never repaid it. With another dismal performance at the weekend, where he created zero chances, took one shot an was dispossessed twice (stats via Fotmob), Atsu proved he isn’t Premier League worthy anymore.

At certain points, Atsu seemed almost clueless in what to do with possession. He’s lost that cutting edge or hunger which made him great in the Championship and should justifiably be sold after flopping badly this season.

It’s fair to say it’s been a dreadful debut campaign at Southampton for Moi Elyounoussi, but if he does get a rare start against West Ham United on Saturday, then he needs to live up to his comments when he signed for the club last summer.

There was a lot of excitement among the St Mary’s faithful when the Norway international arrived last June, considering his goals and assists record for Basel and the fact that he had impressed in the Champions League for the Swiss outfit.

The reported £16m fee, as well as the fact he was seen as Dusan Tadic’s replacement, instantly put some expectation on his shoulders, but he seemed confident that he would deliver give what he told southamptonfc.com at the time.

Rare chance at West Ham

Having largely failed to win over Mark Hughes, it has been a similar story for Elyounoussi under the leadership of Ralph Hasenhuttl as well.

He hasn’t played a single Premier League minute since February and hasn’t made the matchday squad for the previous five fixtures.

However the Austrian manager has hinted that some fringe players will get a chance at the London Stadium, as per southamptonfc.com.

Elyounoussi will surely be one of those, and he needs to take his chance.

Alfredo Morelos must be sold this summer, but his 29 goals this season would take some replacing. Andre Gray would step into his shoes and tear-up the Scottish Premiership if Rangers managed to sign him.

The Herald claimed the Gers are attempting to do just that as summer approaches. The Watford striker is far too good for the Scottish league, so if they can lure him to Glasgow it could make the difference in the title race next season.

He’s scored seven goals and assisted two in 27 games for Watford in the Premier League this season. If that’s what he can do in arguably the most competitive league in the world, imagine what he could do for Rangers in Scotland. He could become an Ibrox hero within a year.

The Englishman’s rated at £13.5m on Transfermarkt, so he certainly wouldn’t be cheap. That’s usually a fee Rangers wouldn’t be able to afford, particularly as they need to add quality all over the pitch to challenge Celtic next season. The money raised from Morelos’ sale can cover this though.

He signed for Watford for £18.36m and his reputation would excite Ibrox no end. The 27-year-old is in his prime, and he’d relish being the main man for such a massive club. He hasn’t had that privilege at Watford, so he could be tempted to Scotland.

If they can convince him to come, it’d be a game-changer for the title race. He’d strike fear in any Scottish Premiership centre-back, and that’d certainly worry their arch-rivals into taking them seriously as title contenders next season.

Ruben Vinagre has enjoyed a hugely encouraging season with Wolves since they were promoted. Initially signing on loan from Monaco during their Championship winning campaign, he became a permanent part of the furniture last summer.

Playing understudy to Jonny, he’s impressed whenever given a first team opportunity and he’s just received a major piece of news.

Having won the U19 European Championships with Portugal last year, the 20-year-old has now been called up to their U20 side for the World Cup over the summer.

Wolves fans were buzzing with the news as one supporter called him a tremendous player. Another went as far as saying he could become the best left-back in the world.

A further fan suggested that he would be massive next season whilst one individual said he was better than Jonny.

The left-back has started just seven times in the Premier League for Nuno Santo’s side, but starred against Liverpool in the FA Cup back in January.

Vinagre is a typical modern day full-back, boasting phenomenal attacking attributes. It’s arguably no surprise, therefore, that he’s attracted the interest of both Barcelona and Liverpool this year.

If he impresses at the U20 World Cup, Wolves could be left to fend off even more potential suitors.
