Além disso, o Flamengo apresentou uma tabela expondo o número expressivo de partidas que serão realizadas em abril. O Rubro-Negro diz que a “quantidade supera a quantidade de jogos disputados em outros estádios do Brasil e de países europeus”.

Outro argumento trago pelo Flamengo é de que o Vasco possui São Januário como estádio próprio. Outra solução que o Rubro-Negro deu ao Cruz-Maltino foi utilizar o estádio Nilton Santos para jogar contra o Palmeiras, na segunda rodada do Campeonato Brasileiro. Vale destacar que a casa do Botafogo também é um equipamento público.

Por fim, o Flamengo sugeriu datas para que o Vasco utilize o Maracanã mesmo com o Termo de Permissão de Uso (TPU) prestes a vencer. Confira abaixo.

O Fluminense, por sua vez, pediu para entrar como parte interessada no processo, uma vez que é intervente anuente no TPU. O Tricolor não se opõe que o Vasco utilize o Maracança, desde que seja “realizada de acordo com critérios técnicos e um cronograma que preserve o gramado”.

Além disso, o Fluminense reforçou o argumento do Flamengo no sentido de que o mês de abril vai ter uma maratona de jogos. Outros pontos ratificados pelo Tricolor é de que São Januário possui condições de receber a partida contra o Palmeiras, que o Nilton Santos poderia ser utilizado pelo Cruz-Maltino como alternativas e as datas disponibilizadas ao clube da Colina Histórica.

Outra alegação feita pelo Fluminense é de que o Vasco quer tumultuar a administração do Maracanã feita em parceira com o Flamengo. O Tricolor também destacou que a 777 Partners tem um projeto de entretenimento para o estádio além do futebol. Ou seja, para o clube das Laranjeiras, a empresa estadunidense deseja usar o local como palco de shows. Por fim, lembrou que o Cruz-Maltinonão possuía “condições financeiras de arcar com os custos de manutenção/conservação de dois estádios” e, por isso, não teve interesse em participar da gestão.

A batalha entre a dupla Fla-Flu e Vasco pelo Maracanã está longe de acabar. Em meio a isso tudo, o prazo do Termo de Permissão de Uso (TPU) se encerra no próximo dia 25.

So there’s other ways. There’s teams that have played, and we’ve been a team that has played, without an allrounder in the past. It’s a decision which some may question, but one that Sesko could now follow. According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United are now readying their first bid to sign the RB Leipzig star, who favours a move to the Red Devils over Newcastle United this summer.

Whilst many have suggested that United have simply won the bidding war to sign players such as Cunha and Mbeumo, Amorim has insisted that money has not been the deciding factor.

He told reporters: “Cunha and Bryan, they had different solutions [offers]. They had Champions League offers. And they wanted to come here. People that say that they come here because of the money… that is a lie. That I know for sure. So, I’m really happy with that.

“That is the key point. They have to want to come here. I think what we can do to the fans is that we want players who have proved [themselves] already.”

Man Utd keen to sign Hayden Hackney

According to GiveMeSport, Manchester United are now keen to sign Hayden Hackney ahead of interest from Tottenham Hotspur this summer. The Middlesbrough midfielder is keen to leave the Teesside club and is willing to wait it out for the likes of Spurs and potentially United to come calling in a deal worth around £20m.

Of course, if the Red Devils want to know more about the England U21 star then they could turn towards Michael Carrick for answers. The former Old Trafford star worked with Hackney for three years at Middlesbrough and was often full of praise for the 23-year-old.

The former Boro boss told reporters after the midfielder signed a new contract at the club in 2022: “I think it’s the right thing, it’s fair from both sides,” said the head coach.

“Hayden has been terrific since I came and the couple of games before that he played really well. That’s kind of how it works, you get rewarded for your good work. He fully deserves it. He’s been a credit to himself and his family with the way he’s handled it.”

Celtic are planning a busy end to the transfer window with Brendan Rodgers wanting at least three more signings coming through the door. The Hoops boss wants to sign a new winger, striker and centre-back to compete for the Scottish Premiership and in Europe.

Rodgers has already made six signings this summer but believes more signings will allow them to compete on multiple fronts, especially if they qualify for the Champions League.

The first of these new signings have been identified as Celtic have put in a bid for one of their long-term forward targets.

Celtics hunt for a new winger might come in the form of long-term target Michel-Ange Balikwisha. Balikwisha is similar in his position and style of play to Jota, as per Football Transfers, so he would be a suitable replacement while the Portuguese star is recovering from his injury.

Sports Witness have reported that the Hoops’ interest in Balikwisha first started last summer when Rodgers attempted to sign him. The report also shares that Celtic and Royal Antwerp had negotiations on his signing and that injuries to the Belgian forward halted the deal.

This summer, Celtic are seen as ‘currently the most concrete option’ for Balikwisha’s next team. The Scottish champions have reportedly put in a bid of unknown value, however, that was rejected by Antwerp. It seems the 24-year-old could cost Celtic up to £4.7 million as Antwerp are hoping to recoup most of what they spent on him in 2021.

Celtic have a long-term interest in Balikwisha, and with a similar profile to Jota, he could be a good fit to join the club. However, the deal has failed to come to fruition once before because of his injuries, and it’s certainly a factor that needs to be taken into consideration.

Even in Balikwisha’s best season at Antwerp, he missed 10 games through injury. However, his best seasons are far less concerning than his worst, as last year he was only available for 17 of Antwerp’s 46 games.

It is not certain that, just because Balikwisha has experienced these injuries at Antwerp, that he would continue to at Celtic. A change in medical staff and physio department might be needed to help the 24-year-old train so that his injuries are not as frequent, but there’s no guarantee of this, and he may just be an injury-prone player.

Celtic will have to take this into consideration when they decide whether or not to make a new offer. From the report, this has been an issue that has deterred them from this transfer in the past, so Rodgers and his team need to decide whether he is worth the money.

Afghanistan dragged themselves to a position of advantage on an attritional third day, with Rahmat Shah’s gritty century, his third in Test cricket, headlining their much improved batting display from their first innings.On the second day where 13 wickets fell, Afghanistan conceded an 86-run first-innings lead to Zimbabwe and lost three wickets before wiping out even half the deficit.But on Saturday, Rahmat, with help from Shahidullah and debutant Ismat Aslam, stretched Afghanistan’s lead beyond 200 with three wickets still remaining, before rain forced early stumps.For Zimbabwe, Blessing Muzarabani added two wickets to his overnight tally of two, while Richard Ngarava struck twice, including the prized scalp of Rahmat, but they know with Ismat still at the crease along with Rashid Khan, who is capable of scoring some quick runs, they are going to be staring at a steep chase on a pitch where batting fourth is a daunting proposition.Afghanistan’s innings revolved around two partnerships. The first was a 67-run stand between Rahmat and Shahidullah that saw the visitors take a 50-run lead by the time it was broken.The pair got together after Afghanistan lost two wickets in the first hour of play while still 17 runs behind.From the way Rahmat started the day, it was evident he wanted to bat long for Afghanistan to get into a winning position. Newcastle United drew a blank against Aston Villa at Villa Park on Saturday, unable to find a breakthrough despite Ezri Konsa being shown a red card for dragging Anthony Gordon to the turf after the hour mark when through on goal.

It’s a tired storyline at this point (we apologise), but there was an Alexander Isak-shaped absence at the front of Eddie Howe’s system, with the Sweden striker on strike as he pushes to secure a move to Liverpool before the September 1st transfer deadline.

Gordon deputised as Newcastle’s number nine, something he has done multiple times in the past, but lacked cutting edge, albeit covering much ground, with Sofascore recording the Three Lions star clocked 9.9km across the contest.

There’s much to look forward to for those of a Magpies persuasion this season, even with the acknowledgement that the summer transfer window has drained the water from the crest of a wave the club rode from the 2024/25 season.

But Gordon is not an out-and-out striker; his best qualities lie elsewhere. For that reason, it’s crucial that Howe solves this quandary in the next two weeks.

Newcastle have been frustrated in their bid to sign Brentford’s Yoane Wissa, who had removed himself from first-team training in the hopes of signing for the St. James’ Park side. It offers a stark parallel to Isak’s situation.

The noise around a potential move for Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson seems to have been drowned out in recent days, although rumours are mounting regarding a deal for Paris Saint-Germain striker Goncalo Ramos, who already has two goals for Luis Enrique’s side this season.

With Callum Wilson having left the club at the end of his contract last term, it’s clear that signings are still needed up front – even if Isak ends up staying – else the Tynesiders could be blighted in their pursuit of more glory under Howe’s wing.

However, Newcastle aren’t only looking at the front of the ship. In fact, the club have held talks with one of their Premier League rivals as they weigh up a move for a rising talent at the other end of the field.

Lewis, 20, has already been the subject of a formal approach from Nottingham Forest this month, which is believed to have totalled €30m (£26m).

With greater responsibility handed to him by Howe, the ball-playing defender, who is versatile and has played a number of fixtures as a midfielder, could become Newcastle’s next version of Gordon, who joined from Everton in January 2023 but had previously been a member of Liverpool’s academy, discarded before making gains through his formative years.

Against Aston Villa, Newcastle showed themselves to be organised and structured in defence, persistent and tenacious in the press, eager to spark a swift transition. Blunt? Sure, but United remain one of the best-coached teams in the league, with enough talent to surge past the perfunctory opinions of a drop-off after a testing window.

Did Newcastle not struggle for the best market last summer? How did that go? Howe knows what he’s doing, all right, and if he signs a youngster like Lewis, also praised for his “exceptional” ability by Guardiola, he could will and guide him toward stardom, as he did with Gordon.

Gordon, indeed, claimed Newcastle’s Player of the Year award after the 2023/24 campaign, notching 22 goal contributions across the Premier League campaign and leading journalist Henry Winter to note he’s a winger who is “thrilling to watch” and “scares defenders.”

Gordon has been such an important part of Newcastle’s rise over the past few years, and he stood up and took centre-stage in the absence of Isak on Saturday, underscoring his commitment to the cause.

In Lewis, Howe could land his next protege, one who shares his countryman’s tactical fluidity and is rooted in his completeness of style, with Sofascore noting that he completed 91% of his passes in the Premier League while also winning 59% of his ground duels, which is highly impressive for a young talent regularly pitted against the division’s finest wingers.

There’s plenty of competition for his signature, but then that was the case with Gordon too, and Lewis would be wise to recognise the shrewdness in joining Howe’s system, with the manager proficient in growing uncut gems into sparkling stars.
