AFPWHAT NEXT FOR ENZO FERNANDEZ?
With the international break coming to an end, the 23-year-old will now be back in action in club football and will take the field for the Blues on Saturday night as they take on Bournemouth away from home.
Tottenham Hotspur are convinced that a forward valued at £21 million is a "huge talent", and they now want to sign him for manager Ange Postecoglou this summer.
Spurs targeting new goalscorer and playmaker
According to some reliable media sources, Spurs are in search of more creativity both out wide and further forward.

To finally replace club legend Harry Kane, who joined Bayern Munich in a multi-million pound deal last summer, Tottenham are believed to be in the market for a new striker this summer. Brentford star Ivan Toney is among the names linked, with former Spurs scout Bryan King even urging the club to do a deal.
“Toney, that is who Tottenham need to go and sign,” King said to Tottenham News.

“He is worth the extra money, and if Spurs want to move to the next level that is the player they need to convince to join them. Spurs need to make that step and guarantee they will finish in the top four next season, and Toney is the player who will help them do that.
“They can go through Europe and pick out centre-forwards if they like, but Toney is an England international, Premier League proven and he is the player that the club need to replace Harry Kane.”
Meanwhile, as well as going forward, trusted media members like Fabrizio Romano have recently claimed that Spurs could bring in a new star winger to help with goals and assists – name-dropping both Raphinha and Pedro Neto as potential options.
Pedro Neto for Wolves
“Look, a player they appreciate for a long time is Raphinha from Barcelona. We know the financial situation at Barcelona is not easy, so he could be one of the names. They will look at that kind of player," said RomanotoJD Football.
"Another player they appreciate is Pedro Neto, but he has this issue with his injuries, so I’m not sure Liverpool, Tottenham or the other clubs following the player will be prepared to play big money for Pedro Neto this summer. That kind of player is the priority for Tottenham, I see them going for that kind of winger, a quality player to help with goals and assists."
Of course, Spurs only have so much to play with in terms of transfer kitty, meaning they'll need to weigh up their next moves carefully. A more astute alternative to the names mentioned could now be Lyon forward Rayan Cherki, and reports suggest he only cost around £21 million.
Tottenham want to sign Cherki and think he's a "huge talent"
According to HITC and journalist Graeme Bailey, Tottenham are among the clubs eyeing a move for Cherki this summer, with all interested sides believing he's a "huge talent" – including Spurs.

PSG are also chasing the Ligue 1 sensation, who's bagged six assists in 33 Ligue 1 appearances, so Postecoglou's side will face stiff competition if they decide to formalise their interest with an approach.
The BCB opened its facilities on Sunday, for the first time since March
Mohammad Isam19-Jul-2020Only one player is allowed to train inside the stadium at a time, with just one trainer with him, both maintaining fair distance. Separate seats, water bottles and toilets for them. No groundsmen or board official allowed inside the ground. A second player can only enter the ground once the first player is done training. These are the new rules to be followed at the usually buzzing Shere Bangla National Stadium as the BCB opened up its facilities on Sunday, for the first time since March. The same regulations are to be followed at the other facilities in Sylhet, Khulna and Chattogram.Mohammad Mithun, Mushfiqur Rahim and Shafiul Islam trained in Dhaka while fast bowler Khaled Ahmed and left-arm spinner Nasum Ahmed did so in Sylhet. In Khulna, it was Nurul Hasan and Mahedi Hasan, while the rain didn’t allow Nayeem Hasan to train in Chattogram. Imrul Kayes will also train in Dhaka on Monday. These nine cricketers volunteered to train. Rahim had also trained at another ground on the outskirts of Dhaka last week. The BCB is following other usual protocols. Players and trainers had their temperatures measured, and hand sanitisers and sprays are readily available. When Rahim and Mithun batted in the indoor nets against the bowling machine, they didn’t pick up the balls. The person feeding the ball into the bowling machine collected all the balls once a round was finished. Once training was over, the player left the ground and only after half an hour did a second player enter the stadium.Akram Khan, the BCB’s cricket operations chairman, said that they have had requests from players to resume training from May, but the board discouraged any outside training due to the severity of the coronavirus pandemic in Bangladesh.”We have had requests from players to train since before last Eid [in May], but we didn’t encourage them,” Akram said. “The situation wasn’t good, and neither is it okay now. But we have had the ground and training facilities ready since May, so we decided to open them for players this time. As long as the pandemic situation remains the same, this is how the training will be arranged. Obviously if it improves, we will be back to full training immediately.”Khan also said that the board has no issues with the cricketers who have decided to stay home. “We are okay with them staying at home. If any of them want to join the training, we will arrange a schedule for them,” he said. Most Bangladesh cricketers have been doing some sort of physical training at home. Last month the BCB sent training equipment to most of the centrally contracted cricketers. Wicketkeeper Nurul has put together a pitch in front of his house, while Khaled has been running almost daily during the pandemic. On Sunday, the cricketers either did sprints, in some cases 20 each of 100m, while others ran for about 40 minutes for a distance of 4.5km. The current schedule is applicable for a week before players go for the Eid-al-Azha break.Bangladesh have had several series postponed due to the pandemic, including a three-match Test series in Sri Lanka which was scheduled for July. The two-Test series against New Zealand at home, supposed to be held in August, has also been postponed, as is the Asia Cup. With the T20 World Cup also in doubt, the BCB’s next biggest revenue source in 2020 remains the Bangladesh Premier League, scheduled for the end of the year. The board is currently looking at the possibility of resuming the Dhaka Premier League, the domestic one-day competition, in September, as hundreds of non-contracted cricketers are struggling financially.
Birmingham City will want their next managerial appointment to be their last decision taken over the St. Andrew's hot seat for some time, having gone through managers rashly in recent years.
This season just gone saw the Blues go through four different bosses, with Tony Mowbray only lasting a matter of months in the job post, but the experienced 60-year-old manager stepped down due to health-related issues as opposed to being given the axe harshly.
Sunderland manager Tony Mowbray.
This upcoming appointment feels like the most pivotal for quite a long stretch as well, with the Blues now languishing in League One ahead of what could be an entertaining season for Birmingham fans to latch onto, especially if they taste promotion at the first time of asking.
Just ask the likes of Mowbray's former clubs Sunderland and Blackburn Rovers about their experiences in the third tier, however, with the relegated Blues quite rightly setting their sights on a recent promotion winner from the level to avoid overstaying their welcome in the lowly league.
Birmingham looking at "shrewd" Mowbray successor
The overwhelming frontrunner for the vacancy in the West Midlands continues to look like being former Black Cats manager Alex Neil, who was embraced by Sunderland fans quickly during his speedy stint in charge, with promotion secured after just 24 games in the dug-out.
With the Scotsman also now having been interviewed, it could be a matter of time before his official announcement, as a number of football pundits weigh in on their thoughts regarding the previous promotion-winning boss.
Carlton Palmer, when speaking with Football League World, described the potential acquisition of Neil as a "great" appointment, further praising his "shrewd" nature tactically across his career, which saw him also win promotion up to the Premier League with Norwich City.
Why Neil could benefit Jordan James
The Scot will have to make do with scrapping it in the third tier again, however, with the ambitious swoop for the 42-year-old potentially enough for Jordan James to stay put at St. Andrew's for one more year, instead of becoming another youth product like Jude or Jobe Bellingham who left Birmingham behind for better things right as they got into their stride.
Birmingham have a reputation now for allowing young gems the platform to dazzle through their esteemed youth set-up straight up to the main team, seen in the aforementioned names above, and in the present with the electric James.
The 19-year-old, who has become involved with the Wales senior set-up off-the-back of his exploits even in the midst of a disappointing relegation season, picked up eight goals from the centre of the park last campaign and could tear League One to shreds if kept around.

The tenacious 19-year-old could well look to what Neil managed to get out of Wes Hoolahan during his time in Norfolk with the iconic attack-oriented midfielder to then stick around, as the now 42-year-old picked up a fantastic 15 goal contributions from just 36 games on the way to promotion glory being savoured back at the end of 2014-15 season.
Yet, the allure of clubs such as far-away Atalanta in Italy and Premier League suitors in West Ham United taking an interest could be too tempting for the homegrown gem to resist, even if the XI next campaign could be moulded around him.
Birmingham midfielder Jordan James.
Neil will need to just try and convince the 19-year-old starlet to stay and battle it out for the Blues next season, with the Scotsman's promotion credentials a potential swaying factor, if the Welsh youngster knows his still-fledging career will only be somewhat derailed for a year or so.

Endrick has been reduced to a series of cameo performances for Real Madrid this season. Indeed, the 18-year-old has made six substitute appearances for the club but is yet to start a game. He impressed once again in limited action against Espanyol on Saturday, coming off the bench to win a penalty as Ancelotti's side ran out 4-1 winners, leading some to ask if he deserves more minutes.

The former Palmeiras forward faces almighty competition at the Bernabeu, with Vinicius, Mbappe, Rodrygo and Arda Guler all vying to start in attack. It's an enviable position for any manager to be in, but such depth can cause issues when egos are affected. Ancelotti has already admitted that Rodrygo could get jealous at the attention paid to Vinicius, Mbappe and Jude Bellingham, and Endrick will be desperate to play as often as possible after moving to Madrid in the summer.
WHAT ANCELOTTI SAID
"On the one hand, yes, I may be being unfair, because he is training well; he is someone with a lot of quality," Ancelotti said. "But in front of him are Vinicius, Rodrygo, Mbappe… it is necessary, for him to be a little patient."

David Willey and Josh Poysden share six wickets at Graham Clark’s half-century goes in vain
ECB Reporters Network04-Sep-2020Yorkshire Vikings earned a vital 29-run win in the Vitality Blast North Group against Durham as Tom Kohler-Cadmore took centre stage with an unbeaten knock of 85 at Emirates Riverside. Kohler-Cadmore exploded after a steady start, scoring five sixes in his brilliant innings. Will Fraine added a blistering knock of 36 in the latter overs to propel the Vikings to a formidable total of 198 for 3 from their 20 overs.Graham Clark offered resistance for the home side with a half-century of his own. However, no other Durham batsman could match his intensity as Josh Poysden tore through the line-up with three wickets, while David Willey also took three scalps to bowl out the hosts for 169. Yorkshire secured their second victory of the competition, boosting their hopes of qualification from the North Group, while Durham remain winless after five matches.Adam Lyth took the initiative in the early overs of the innings, dispatching two boundaries from Brydon Carse’s first over. Matt Potts made the breakthrough when Lyth went for a swing towards the leg side, but was caught a deep midwicket by Liam Trevaskis. Kohler-Cadmore made a slow start to the innings, but was able to up the ante by striking his first six in the sixth over. Yorkshire built a solid platform reaching 51 for 1 at the end of the Powerplay, which allowed Kohler-Cadmore license to attack. He clubbed Trevaskis straight back over his head for a maximum and then sent the next over the rope. The opener and Joe Root put on fifty for the second wicket in the ninth over from only 30 balls. Root deployed the sweep to great success against the spinners, but his attempt to clear the rope against Paul Coughlin resulted in his dismissal for 25. Kohler-Cadmore continued his assault and reached a 33-ball fifty in style, hammering the ball into the car park for his fourth maximum. Harry Brook kept the pressure on the Durham bowlers, quickly finding his range with 23 from 12 before he was caught at third man off Coughlin. The Vikings’ maintained their impetus as Kohler-Cadmore continued to clear the rope down the ground. Fraine played a gem of a knock in the closing overs, easing the burden on his skipper. He blasted 36 from only 15 deliveries, including three sixes, to set the home side a daunting total of 199 to chase to register their first win of the season.Clark responded for Durham with three boundaries from Willey’s opening overs before dispatching Matthew Fisher into the pavilion with a huge six. Through the striking of Clark, the home side raced to their fifty at the end of the fifth over. The openers continued to get on top of the Yorkshire bowlers, refusing to let them settle.Clark reached his second fifty of the season from 26 balls, but the opening stand was broken by Root on 77 when Lees was caught at deep backward square leg for 24. Poysden stunted Durham’s progress with the wicket of Ben Raine, which pushed the required rate up above 10 per over. Clark guided the home side past the 100-run mark, but his attempt to hammer Root down the ground resulted in his dismissal stumped for 68.The chase was left in the hands of David Bedingham and Farhaan Behardien, but the boundaries were beginning to dry up for hosts. Bedingham’s attempt to cut loose against Matthew Pillans saw him pick out Fisher on the fence. Poysden handed Yorkshire control of the contest by removing Berhardien and Carse, and Willey returned to claim two wickets in two balls before adding a third in the final over to allow the Vikings to ease over the line, putting them back in contention in the North Group.
ECB says play can begin at 10.30am with early starts possible in future series too
ESPNcricinfo staff20-Aug-2020Play can begin at 10.30am, half an hour early, during the third Test between England and Pakistan if time has been lost earlier in the match to rain or bad light. The revised start times will come into effect during the final match of the three-Test series, starting at the Ageas Bowl on Friday. It follows discussions surrounding the second Test, at the same venue, which ended in a draw when poor weather meant only 134.3 overs were bowled for the match, the equivalent of less than one and a half days’ play of the scheduled five, even though the match finished late on the fifth day.”I think it’s a sensible idea,” England captain, Joe Root, said. “I felt for the umpires last week. I thought that they did everything they could by the letter of the law to keep us out there when possible. And I think this will enable us to play a little bit more cricket. It seems a sensible way of doing it and for the environment we find ourselves in, the times that we’re in as well, it seems a really good way of maximising hours of play.”Announcing the change on Thursday, the ECB said consideration would be given to having earlier start times during future Test series in England also.”Following positive discussions with the England and Wales Cricket Board, (ECB) the International Cricket Council (ICC), led by match referee Chris Broad and various stakeholders including broadcast partners, the ECB and the ICC have agreed to revised start times ahead of the #raisethebat third Test starting on Friday at the Ageas Bowl,” the ECB said in a statement.”The flexible approach will enable the prospect of making up time for inclement weather during the morning session of subsequent days rather than at the end of the day.”The match officials will ensure that light is monitored to maximise playing time while it is still safe to do so. The safety of the players is still the number one priority for this protocol.”ALSO READ: Silverwood joins calls for earlier Test starts in EnglandThe revised start times have been agreed with the captains and coaches of England and Pakistan.Chris Silverwood, the England head coach, said on Wednesday there would be “no complaints from us” if play start times were brought forward by half an hour in the case of play being lost to bad weather. If early start times are to be used, the match referee, groundstaff and the ECB match manager will meet to discuss the start times for the next day after the conclusion of play on the first day. If the forecast looks good for the next morning, there will be an option to commence play at 10.30am.The final decision will be made by Broad, as match referee, who will confirm the revised playing times, with the most likely schedule being a 10.30am start with 98 overs to be bowled in the day and a 6pm scheduled close, going to 6.30pm for an extra 30 mins to bowl overs with a 7pm cut off for extra time for bad weather during the day. The morning session would last two-and-a-half hours if the start time was adjusted.

With Jon McLaughlin leaving at the end of his contract, Rangers are reportedly eyeing a move to sign some competition for Jack Butland at Ibrox ahead of next season.
Rangers transfer news
The Gers are certainly not wasting any time this summer, having already signed Jefte to replace the departing Borna Barisic down the left-hand side. Speaking about the Brazilian's arrival, Philippe Clement told the club's website: "Jefté is an exciting young defender, and I am delighted that he has joined our squad so early in the summer period.
"He has already shown he is a player of great quality and potential and I am confident he can play a big part in our squad moving forward – I look forward to working with him in the months to come.”
What's more, after sealing one signing, the Gers have instantly turned their attention towards another potential incoming. According to Fussball Europa, Rangers are eyeing a move to sign Stojan Lekovic in what will reportedly be a bargain deal. The Radnicki 1923 goalkeeper allegedly has a gentleman's agreement with his current club which will give him the green light to leave if the right offer comes in this summer.

The Scottish giants aren't alone in their interest in the 6ft 6in shot-stopper though, with Aberdeen also seemingly eyeing a move to create an interesting race for his signature.
Rangers goalkeeper Jack Butland
Still just 22 years old, Lekovic will be hoping to eventually become the number one wherever he ends up, which would mean stepping into Butland's role eventually at Ibrox. As the summer goes on, the race for his signature could be one to watch in Scotland.
"Bargain" Lekovic can become Butland successor
With plenty of time to reach his peak and make further improvements, Lekovic stands in good stead to eventually replace Butland if he completes a move to Rangers this summer. His 6ft 6in frame alone is one that can be coached into a top goalkeeper, with the likes of Thibaut Courtois possessing similar statures. Now seems to be the best time for Rangers to strike too after Fussball Europa's editor Andre Oechsner described the goalkeeper as a "bargain".
Looking to end Celtic's recent run of dominance in the Scottish Premiership next season, bargains deals should still be the name of the game for those at Ibrox, whilst handing Clement plenty to work with in his first full season in the charge. And that could see Lekovic arrive in the coming months of the summer transfer window.

Holding: Sportspersons have the platform to make a difference
Jofra Archer has claimed Michael Holding “doesn’t know anything that is going on behind the scenes” after he criticised England and Australia for failing to take a knee during their limited-overs series.Holding, the former West Indies fast bowler, has been a vocal advocate of the Black Lives Matter movement in recent months. As well as providing impassioned testimony of his experiences on Sky and with ESPNcricinfo, he welcomed the decision of the England, West Indies and Ireland teams to register their respect for the movement by taking a knee ahead of their Test and ODI fixtures earlier this season. But he described the failure of Pakistan, Australia and England to do so ahead of their recent matches as “lame” and suggested individual players could unilaterally make the gesture if they wanted to “send a signal” to show they “accept things need to change”.But Archer, England’s Barbados-born fast bowler, has insisted nobody involved within the England set-up has “forgotten” about the movement and claimed progress is being made “in the background”.”I’m pretty sure Michael Holding doesn’t know anything that is going on behind the scenes,” Archer said. “I don’t think he has spoken to [ECB chief executive] Tom Harrison.”I’ve spoken to Tom and we have stuff running in the background. We’ve not forgotten. No-one here has forgotten about Black Lives Matter.Jofra Archer, back in the light blue of England’s ODI team•Getty Images”I think that is a bit harsh for him to say that. I think it is a bit harsh for Mikey to not do some research before criticising.”The “background” measures referred to by Archer include the ECB setting up an Inclusion and Diversity taskforce, a commitment to increasing the representation of non-white individuals in leadership roles, a game-wide anti-discrimination charter and a bursary scheme for young black coaches, with a focus on “leadership, education and opportunity”. There will also be a further drive to reintroduce cricket in primary schools, with a focus on ethnically diverse areas. But Holding, responding to Archer’s comments, told ESPNcricinfo there should be no conflict between taking action in the background and continuing to make a gesture in public.”Taking a knee does not prevent other action from taking place,” Holding said. “Those who take a knee are not substituting the gesture for other positive action.ALSO READ: Holding on Black Lives Matter – England excuses are ‘lame'”Nobody should have a problem with it. It is a worldwide recognition of calling attention to racial prejudice and injustice.”Meanwhile, Archer welcomed the crackdown by social media companies upon those making racial abuse online. But he did suggest legislation “might have to go a bit further” given that he continues to receive abuse on a regular basis.”I think a lot of stuff is being put into place now,” he said. “People can be prosecuted a bit easier, but I think it might have to go a bit further because some people still aren’t worried about what can happen to them.”I had one the other day; the guy blamed it on being drunk. My mum would always say ‘you can’t think for people’. As long as there is social media and the person doesn’t have to confront you it will still go on.”I feel the love from fans, too. But there’s still a small percentage, you know? I may be doing well but I saw one lady comment on my [gold] chains. Chains have nothing to do with cricket. If she knew me she would know I’ve worn chains from the time I was 14 or 15 years old. You can’t make everyone happy, but the majority of people in England are happy and that makes me happy.”All we can do is try to act accordingly, report it and do what’s best. At the end of the day I think I’m strong enough to deal with it, but what happens when they start targeting someone who isn’t as mentally strong and it starts affecting them? We’ve got to try and stamp it out as much as possible now.”
